MRCP Part 2 Written Preparation Tips

Congratulations for successfully completed MRCP Part 1. 

MRCP Part 2 written is the 2nd step of the journey of achieving the glorious degree of MRCP (Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians). After passing Part 1, a Doctor can give the 2nd part exam.It will take 3-6 months of preparation if one uses his/her time properly and efficiently. 
It consists of two written papers like Part 1, each containing 100 multiple-choice questions SBA (Single Best Answer). The exam helps to test a candidate’s ability to make appropriate decisions for the patient.

MRCP Part 2 Exam Patterns:

  • Single Day Exam.
  • Consists of two written papers, each containing 100 multiple-choice questions as SBA (Single Best Answer). Both papers exams are on the same day.
  • Each paper is of three hours. A break between the two papers will be there.  
  • 1 mark for each number of correct answers.
  • There are image-based questions.
  • There is no negative marking.

MRCP Part 2 Pass Marks:

  • No fixed mark for passing Part 2 exam.
  • It is seen that achieving 454 marks leads to passing and for that 121 questions should be corrected over 200 questions.

Applying Process for MRCP UK Part 2 Exam:

  • Firstly log in to My MRCP (UK) account.
  • Recheck and Update (if necessary) own account details.
  • If any training is done in the UK or any other country, mention it.
  • Select exam center and exam diet
  • After completing all the process, then pay the amount.

MRCP Part 2 Preparation Process:

  • As you have passed MRCP part 1, you already know the process of preparing yourself for exam.
  • Still as it is the 2nd part of MRCP, Plans should be made more accurately and more effectively.
  • 1st need to make a study plan. Time varies but consistency is very much important. Regular study is must.
  • Take a proper guideline, so that a Doctor can get more prepared and also be confident for Part 2.
